The G1 Sucks!
Yes, the G1 sucks! We all know it, it’s just that most of us don’t want to have to admit it. We all know Google rushed this piece of junk onto the market too quickly so they could take advantage of the Christmas buying season and peel off some of the poor saps out there that were going to invest in an iPhone. We hope they are proud!
This site is just a place online for everyone to vent their frustration with the G1 smart phone from Google and express why they feel that the G1 Sucks!
Feel free to jump in and tell your own story in the comments section of why the G1 sucks to you. Feel free to remain anonymous; we don’t want Google to shut down your iGoogle account. Please keep the language clean and don’t make up fake stories to try to impress everyone. Those aren’t needed because there are more than enough reasons to think the G1 sucks without having to make things up.
Check back often because we all know that the more of these crappy phones there are on the market, the more people there will be who think the G1 sucks!

fuckin g1 is weak. outdated clunky n straight up ugly. not what i expected wheres the htc dream or some other device… we need super fast processors n full touch screen front
October 11th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
HAHA!! One comment… and it’s probably yours.
Looks like the G1 doesn’t suck as much as you think it does. Your just jealous that you wasted all of your money on your iPhone.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
actually. i already got my g1 and it is not huge. its not even big. i couldnt beleive how small it is in person. im not in a 3g area and the net and maps r still ridiculous. i dont get how this dude can tell a phone sucks by some video. check it out in person
October 18th, 2008 at 8:06 am
You don’t list any reasons the G1 sucks except the size. Personally, I don’t think the size is a problem at all. It could be slightly thinner, but that is all. Having a removable battery is VERY important and adds some to the thickness. The G1 is already far superior to the iphone in most ways that count. Anyway, here are some REAL things about the G1 that do SUCK:
no bluetooth HID support
no bluetooth stereo headset support
no bluetooth file transfer
no camera flash
only mono speaker built-in
no standard headphone jack
no automatic screen brightness
weak keyboard backlight
chained to Gmail/Google? privacy???
no Flash support (this might come)
no multitouch (supposedly it has it, but not implemented yet)
no local contacts/calendar syncing- only Google
no video recording application (probably will appear)
no file browser (probably will appear)

The G1 is an ugly piece of shit with a stupid clock and a crappy flipping mechanism that just begs to be broken. I used to love google… At the first rumors of a google phone I was giddy with excitement. Now I am starting to wish they would just go away. Google you do fast searches, excellent maps and reliable email. Other than that, just piss off already. Your ego is so huge that you think you can do everything ‘better’ or the ‘right’ way. But (just like your stupid google doodles) most of what you venture out on is half-assed, over simplified (just for the sake of being simple), self-aggrandizing, ugly and pointless. G1 doesn’t come close to what the consumer wants, and the iphone is pretty and revolutionary, but its the blackberry storm that will win the largest number of users. Most people want performance and design (blackberry), some want beauty and fun (iphone) and but only a few will settle for hype and open source (G1).
October 21st, 2008 at 10:35 pm
battery sucks, 3g sucks, ringtones are not loud enough, no indicator light for notifications. A bunch of stupid features that dont work well and a waste of money. Im sending it back and getting a sidekick
October 22nd, 2008 at 7:57 pm
G1 f***ing sucks and I don’t need to see it in person. I’m a T-mobile customer and thank GOD I didn’t “pre-order” it when it hit breaking news last month. I will wait a little more and get an unlcoked iPhone or BlackBerry storm.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:47 am
I was excited like others about the idea of an IPK (iPhone Killer) with my good T-Mobile service, so I’m one of the guys that rushed out and got one of these yesterday…
Eeeech… It will have to start turning backflips verry soon for me to keep it (14-day return policy). SUCKS juice, slow to respond, confusing menus and basically is just not working. Got up this morning, and it couldn’t find my network! WTF? I *never* have trouble making calls!
I have refused to get an iPhone because I don’t like AT&T, but I might give it a try. In the T-Mobile store I discovered that I’m out of plan on T-Mobile. Which means I can stroll across the street and switch to iPhone.

Worst looking device ever. Cannot believe a GIANT company like Google would allow anyone to put their OS on a dated piece of plastic garbage like this. Higher-up people who wear suits worth more than anyone on this forum’s life and make tons of money actually said “This looks great!” Wow. This is the Zack Morris phone of smart phones. Two thumbs way way down.
You would think in this HUGE plastic shell they could have fit some onboard storage worth mentioning? Guess not.
Epic fail. Is the G2 out yet? Or is another hardware vendor putting together a phone in the next 6 months? WTB non-iphone that doesn’t look terrible PST!
BTW thank you to the creator of this site/forum as a place to vent for the folks who believed Google would make sure we had a quality device.
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:47 pm
@ Brad - You’re welcome
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:28 pm
What a cheep looking piece of plastic. Besides the OS, this device is worse than the original Sidekick. I am keeping my sidekick LX and Ipod Touch
October 26th, 2008 at 9:47 am
Gave it a few more days, but just have to return it and get my PEBL back. This ain’t ready for prime time. The last straw was when I was retrieving voicemail and could find no way to delete a message. I would touch ‘7′ on the touch screen keyboard and nothing would happen. Then the screen would go black. Then I’d have to call back and try this procedure again. A T-Mobile forum gave me the solution, involving touching “menu,” then touching ‘7′ and, by the way, making sure your cheek didn’t touch something it wasn’t supposed to…
I’m inside my 14 days. Give me back my PEBL. Here’s how I’ll delete a voicemail from now on: ‘tap.’ Boom. Gone. Too many other issues to get into. Not. Ready.
I’ll let a zillion users hammer out the kinks, and come back then.

this phone sucksssss its wayyy to big and it has studpid buttons and its slow and it sucks. i’d rather have a a razr. iphone is sooooo much better in every single way!!! just because this phone can copy and paste text and send mms messgages dosent mean shit!! the phone is soooooo ugly!!! no thanks google, i hate innovative products and operating system breakthroughs!!!
October 28th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
i have had the g1 for a week and even though i returned it i was not because of the phone whatsoever but the tmobile service which is non existant inside my home. i wish that another, more reliable, carrier would pick up the g1. its web browsing abilities are second to none, one touch to get to your email, a 3 mp camera and an absolutely breathtaking screen. the reason why i did not get the iphone was the lack of a physical keyboard. if anyone else out there is in the same boat, and the coverage in your area is adequate then the g1 is awesome. when 3g did come in(which was next to the kiosk where i bought the phone and thats it) it was fast i did a speed test and got 14860 kbps. it awesome how when your coverage sucks you can browse over wifi. the only gripe i have is that it is not compatable with t mobile hotspots which means you cant make calls over wifi voip. anyways anyone who thinks the g1 sucks must not be looking for the same features in a smart phone as me. easy web browsing, easy access to email, a good keyboard and a screen that is easy to read in direct sunlight…everythign else is just a bonus as far as im concerned…anyways read my name to see my opinion of myself.
So, other than it not working, you loved it so much you took it back? Allrighty then.

For all of you kind souls out there who are coming down so hard on Google, I have a few interesting facts that some were to careless to consider…
If any of you were anything more than a teenager who is upset because mommy won’t buy you the G1 or an Iphone, you would know that Google did not make the phone, nor did they make any attempt to “Rush it to market for Christmas.”
Google’s only affiliation with the G1 is the Android OS…T-Mobile is marketing the phone and service, HTC designed and is manufacturing the hardware, and Google is…well…allowing them to use one of the most usable and open phone operating systems in our technology’s history. If you don’t like the phone, complain to HTC for their design, or T-Mobile for choosing HTC’s design.
Android can and will run on much more than one phone, and it doesn’t matter if any of us likes it or not, Google has one of the most well rounded packages as far as phone OSes. Period. With the exception of the IPhone of course; but begging Steve Jobs to put my own software on a piece of hardware I paid $600 for doesn’t seem to make a bit of sense.
***Admin added***
You are living in a tree if you believe Goog wasn’t intimately involved in the design and development of the Google Phone, G- Phone, G-1. They specifically chose HTC as their joint venture partner to develop the G-1 platform to debut the Android OS on. Take the time to read the issues people are having. There are as many software problems as hardware problems.

G1 is okay. Not made by Google, only the OS. Panasonic made the board in the phone. it’s not heavy, it’s not huge, but i did get a kick out of Jen who is going back to her “sidekick”. SK’s are the worst POS out there, so that was funny.
but overall, I sent mine back too. Battery life was below average, camera stinks, and no integrated facebook.
I’d give it another shot if they fix the bugs and get rid of myspace (c’mon TMO, stop marketing to children). Get a Facebook app for us adults. And, fix the stupid camera auto focus, my daughters princess digital camera takes better pictures than this thing does, and it’s 1 MP!
the design and look did not bother me. I also have an iphone, and it’s no heavier than that is. The iPhone just has had a year to work out the kinks, and I’m sure G1 in a year will be just fine.
November 2nd, 2008 at 11:28 pm
i would be worried that googel has never made a phone and is using a touchscreen i also dont think that the sliding keyboard will last very long
jut go get an iphone and wait a year or two and google will make a better one
November 7th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
I used the g1 for a week and then returned it. It was ok, but me and it girlfriend got an iPhone and switched to AT&T. I had played win the ipone a bunch of times in the store, and it seemed pretty cool. But it wasn’t until I owned one was when I trully appreciated the beauty of the iPhone. Other then the virtual keyboard, thisphone is THE BEST phone I have ever owned. It is all you need. The phone, some headphones and a charger then your good to go. You got the Internet music apps movies. Your set. Yes the g1 isn’t restrcted to devs, but like bgr says everyone and there sister can make their flashlight app. The iphone handles there apps pretty damn good. Albeit the android market is just beginning, I do not want to be one of all these people on community forums talking about waiting for updates for the g1. The g1 is an ok phone if you don’t want to pay for the iPhone, but it will never beat it. Some people are like “android rocks because it’s open source and the iPhone isn’t” but it still doesn’t mean anything when you got a half assed market and os on the phone. Plus 256mb of storage, wow that’s fuciin great. Let’s make a phone basednin it’s ability to have unrestricted apps but give the user only a miniscule amount of storage. That my friends is the stupidest decision ever. Forget the looks, because it’s not horrible in person. But the storage is rediculously stupid. I had an 8 gig card with music and pictures, the picures had I load each an every time, this was so fucking anoting you guys have up ideas. Also it loaded so slowly. The Internet was ok. But I love the iphone. I am typing his whole article on it so it is somewhat decent. What’s is the use of having 8 gigs of space with no room for apps???? The answer my friends that the android community uses: let’s just hope google or a third party dvloper can make a program to where you can run apps tom the sd card. This should have been done from the begiining no it’s andsnor btw about that suit. And that is why the g1 blows. Until then I will rock m iPhone with pride!!
November 9th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
I have had my G1 for a little over a week now, and I can safely say, it is the best phone I have used to date. It has everything I need, I use gmail for all my email, I use the GPS and google maps while I’m out and about. I can install anything I want, and I have the ability to open the phone if I choose to.
The qwerty keypad is a godsend compared to all the other solutions out there. Streetview alone is a reason to get it. The interface is very intuitive, even my uncle who knows nothing about technology figured it out in no time.
Everyone seems to forget that the iphone (hyped up as much as this) was a complete load of shit at first. Now that there is a new (3G) version, and there have been updates, everyone is happy.
I think people need to give it time, I for one am happy with my G1, and I’m sure I will only become more satisfied as updates are rolled out.

G1 SUCKS A&&, my god i’m the dumbest person to have hold on to this phone for 17 days. i’m soooo stupid now i can return it. PLEASE anybody reading this make sure you return this crap before your time runs out. i get dropped calls, cantacts and numbers never work. even looking up names if you don’t enter it the way its listed it can’t even search and find all the name with those letters. for god saks its google search king. i can’t even go on how much i’m angry at the fact that i got stuck with this piece of crap and i also lost my discount on this &^%t and have to wait another two years before i get some discount on another phone. OMG i’m soooo mad. the store wouldn’t take it back i was 3 days past the 14day period. i’ve been T-mobile customer for 10yrs but i think this G1 will deff move some of its customers over to Iphone and att.
thx

Helllooo people.. its a FIRST GENERATION phone! Of couse it is not going to be the hottest looking thing, and its going to have flaws! First Gen iphone was totally overhyped, G1 is overhyped.. Wait till next year to make a real arguement. You all really just sound like bandwagon haters!
Admin Said - So, your argument is that because Apple released iPhone before it was ready, everyone who spent their hard earned money on a “not ready for prime time” G-1 should just shut up, live with their problems and buy another one in a year when the 2nd Generation is released?
We would suggest that the uproar from the public about the problems with the iPhone is what spurred Apple into a relatively quick reaction to correct the issues and we hope the same thing will happen with the G1.
How would you suggest that someone find a resolution to their problem if they do not let others know about it? Do you actually suggest that disappointed customers should simply suffer in silence while consoling themselves with the thought that maybe next year’s version will be better?
You sound like a bandwagon Goog lover.

G1 only allows 256mb for apps Booo that’s garbage. I tried web browsing on it its pretty annoying. Im used to multi touch. And its really choppy. I also noticed the apps drag to load and crash alot.
Well the G1 phone gives you alot of bang for your buck but for me its all about the user experience. The UI is lame and dull. The only thing the G1 has working for it in that department is the ability to set a wallpaper.
If you want cool, sleek and sexy go with the iphone 3G. And its an IPOD!!! Who doesnt use itunes nowadays? Also, im not sure if the G1 can read Microsoft office docs and pdf but if it cant that right there alone renders the phone useless for me.
Just like in the case of the iphone im sure after a year they’ll improve the phone dramatically. But if thats the case would you really want to buy it now? iPhone 3.0 baby!
Also, i was wondering does any one know if game emulators would work on it since its not multi touch?
November 12th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
First of all, i have nothing against the iphone, i think its a great phone and have nothing bad to say about it. second, i bought a g1 this saturday and i have loved it, the data price is cheap, the phones moving parts feel suprisingly sturdy. i don’t see why people have to be so condescending on a device most of you have never used before. other than the lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack and better battery life this rivals or beats the iphone in most categories.
wow i have never seen an admin so immature that they would go and post little debates within other peoples posts, i’m suprised thats even legal.

The g1 is a sad phone. Iphone is so much better.

I regret buying the G1. I came from a blackberry curve (it broke and didn’t put insurance on it) I thought the G1 would be good for email, internet, battery life…..BIG MISTAKE. Some of the features are innovative but to me it’s just a Beefed up Sidekick with somewhat cool features. I think this phone literally turned me off from touch screen phones for awhile.
November 14th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
The G1 is soooooo lame. I’ve been a long time blackberry user, but really I’m a mobile phone fanatic. I am usually getting the newest hardware and software that is out there. I’ve hesitated to get an iphone because I’m a t-mo guy and I’ve been waiting for this Android phone to come out because I’ve been really excited about it! Now that I have it, I wish I would have bit the bullet and purchased an iPhone.
The physical design on this phone has me scratching my head. You would think they would at least want to WOW people with the hardware… but also, how does Google justify launching a phone with a maps application that is inferior to their own maps app on the blackberry and on the iPhone? I mean, this is your own OS, for god’s sakes! How can you launch apps on your own OS like this? Do you not want to reward people who actually are early adopters of your phone? I mean, it’s not like the technology isn’t out there… we see it and use it on the BB and the iPhone!!
Also, with email, you can’t delete more than 1 email at a time…. just like with the first gen iPhone but Apple quickly fixed that. I don’t get how you can release a phone like this and not have that feature.
I know a lot of people that work for Google, and guess what? They all like their iPhones wayyyyyyyyyyy better than this brick of a phone.
Oh and everyone saying give it time, give it time? Well, you should all still be pissed that you dropped 200 bucks on a phone when you can’t even use the 3G or the GPS for any useful period of time because the battery life is just plain horrible. It makes the phone unusable. I turn off the 3G and the GPS and the WIFI and I still have to charge this thing 2 or 3 times a day.
I’m glad there are product managers at Google getting paid ridiculous salaries to get this so wrong. But even they are sticking with their iPhones… and why wouldn’t they?

G1 does suck, but I still love it. Here is why it sucks to me:
*Screen orientation remains sideways even when screen shut
*T-Mos 3G network blows. Unreliable, super slow, and spotty, even in NYC! Switching between 3G and Edge is anything but smooth. Calls dropped, applications frozen…
*GPS sux too. Always 4 to 6 blocks off. In city like NYC, that is a large margin of error…makes it not worth using.
*Sound quality on calls is muffled and not clear like on other devices on T-Mos Edge network.
*Can’t copy/paste from emails!
*Battery life stinks. Even after going through the usual new-battery stretch-out, cannot even get one full days worth of life. And, don’t give me the “well, what, are you on google and maps and email all day?” because that is the WHOLE purpose of this freaking phone!
*Track ball too sensitive results in many accidental selections
*There is no “Notes” option. WHAT!? How in the world will this replace devices used to Outlook. Where can you keep journals and notes on this thing?
*Too many freeze-outs
I still love it though b.c. it is a step in the right direction. So much potential, and that is why they bough the rights to G1 - G7 or something like that….new versions will emerge soon. We are only the testing monkeys.
November 18th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Google did not make this you ignorant. HTC did.
Android OS is far superior than the iPhone OS. We just need to wait until some mobile phone manufacturer like Motorola, Nokia or Blackberry come up with their own design and implement Android on their handsets.
Ignorance is bliss
Admin Said - I just checked and, sure enough, the name of this site is, “G1 Sucks”, not ,”Google Sucks”.
Your argument that everyone should wait until another manufacturer builds a phone around the Android OS seems to agree with the idea behind this site.
I would suggest that you spend a little more time trying to correct your own ignorance before calling names.
November 21st, 2008 at 11:52 pm
yeah, a lot of people are saying that the g1 is huge, it is true that it is larger than most phones, but it feels and looks even bigger than people think it is when it is in your hands in person. It’s MASSIVE!
November 25th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
I have owned a 1st Gen iPhone as well as the iPhone 3G currently.
I have a friend that had gotten the G1 the day it came out and had some normal issues with it like dropping calls and whatnot. The really bad issues didn’t come out until later that week.
First-off, the phone itself is very anti-ergonomic. Typing on it is very frustrating because your right hand is having to circumvent the tilted bottom protion of the phone. He complained of typing cramps here and there since he did alot of postings and Twitters from it.
Another rediculous issue he has with it is the inability to use other mail programs since it’s basically locked down to using only Gmail and google-related productivity solutions. I, for one, hate gmail and only use my account the garbage sites I visit since I never chack that mailbox. I have mobile me through Apple and although it’s not cheap ($100 per year), it’s the most complete form of mail/calendar/contacts software I’ve ever used. Sure it struggled for the first month, but it’s perfect now and I can’t see being without it.
After my buddy dealt with these two issues for about a week, he turned his G1 in and finally fell victum to the iPhone’s useability and comfortable ergonomics.
I was sically turned off to the G1 as soon as I saw that it supported a sylis as one of the major ways to interact with it’s display. I had a Samsung i760 before buying my iPhone and hated every minute of using that damned stylis. They should be outlawed, and if your fingers are too fat to use instead of one, then get a Jitterbug (http://www.jitterbug.com/Phones/)!
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents…
November 25th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
By the way, my entire post above (as well as this one) was created via my iPhone, while at work.
November 28th, 2008 at 6:24 am
Yeah it sucks horribly. I sent it back within the first 3 days. Not to mention how horrible the service was and the customer support. I had to tell half the employees what to do and then I still didn’t get my initial $80 service charge returned to me. One person told me it would take 60 days, another told me it would be mailed to me in check form. Their support needs serious training. & yeah the phone is useless, unless you’ve never had a really cool phone like the iPhone, it might seem good to you.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Funny that all the comments are pretty much the same as the iphone-sucks.com (oops Apple sent them an CnD letter to shut the site down). The 3G iphone has a marginally better user experience, but that’s it (more easier to drop/scratch, heavier and same size since you need a protector case, etc…)
And guess what. Just look at the reviews of the Storm, Insight and EnV are resulting in similar problems too–i.e. the Storm tactile screen is a bit immature/inaccurate by some reports. And the Insight has its set of problems (useless browser, lock in to Sprint, etc…)
Two things that TRULY sucks about the G1 is the [software handled?] camera focus and lack of AD2P bluetooth stereo. It does plainly screw up the benefit of 3.2MP. Otherwise it has a faster processor than the iphone 3G. Everything else is on par with the other phones, even battery life.
A nice benefit of the G1 is it’s a open source OS. The h/w has more potential that the iphone3G (the Qual chip has TV capability, USB ext, s/w emulations, WCDMA vs UTMS). It’s just the s/w needs to be either written or optimized by the Android community–that takes time, look how long it took google to get maps on the iphone…

I just went from a Dash to a Google phone. Didn’t like it, but I gave it a weekend to impress me. Guess what…I’m back on the Dash. Here are a few pointers as to why I do not like this phone:
1- No touch screen keyboard. Ridiculous to open it up everytime I need to type something
2- Can’t delete POP3 mails from the delete folder. This is a big that is being discussed on other web sites.
3- My Visor talk bluetooth DOES NOT work with this phone.
4- Speaker phone not loud enough
5- Normal speaker not loud enough
6- Ringer weak
7- Touch screen does not react all the time to my finger
8-Battery dies quickly
9- GPS is terrible (due to TMobile I’m sure and their lack of 3G towers)
10- GPS is very similiar to Local Live, so what’s the big deal???
11- To get to a contact, have to slide your fingers up and down until you find the person you want to call. On the Dash, I just click on the first initial of the person and they pop up!
December 18th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
You all suck! Iphone blows! admin you blow too.
Admin Said - Thanks for taking the time to enlighten everyone!
I should point out, however, that YOU are the one who searched Google for “G-1 SUCKS” and then stayed here for almost 20 minutes reading comments.
What are you, some kind of fan-boy that runs around searching the internet for people who disagree with you?
December 23rd, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I’ve had my G1 for two weeks now, and the battery life sucks. This phone can’t even last my work day which is only eight hours. A complete hyped-up piece of crap! Google should’ve stuck to being in the search engine business, and left the phone market alone.
December 31st, 2008 at 7:18 pm
I got my G1 for Christmas, after much anxious anticipation. I have no problem with the size of the phone but I’m finding few things to like about it, other than the very good internet surfing. Other than that…it’s driving me nuts. It won’t connect with my bluetooth ear bud; it won’t download my Yahoo mail; and (worst of all) it won’t allow me to sync with my Outlook calendar which is, like, the center of my life! I am very disappointed that they allowed a phone like this to hit the market without working out these very big problems. The keyboard is also impossible to read - silver letters on a metallic background, with hardly any backlight - design idiocy! I have to press like 5 buttons to even get to the screen where I can make a simple phone call. I set the screen to time out at 2 minutes but it times out at about 15 seconds. The ringtone volume is not nearly loud enough. I can’t delete/save messages using the onscreen keypad while checking my v-mail. And the camera is so sensitive most pics come out uber-blurry. But I honestly would overlook most of this stuff if I could just get it to sync with Outlook, check my Yahoo, and connect to my Bluetooth. I’m very disappointed.
January 2nd, 2009 at 9:51 pm
I gave the G1 one as a gift. It was the worst gift ever. The SD card keeps stoping and giving an error. The phone resets it self. Cant bluetooth any files. Pictures are ass. No video. picture mail is ass
January 4th, 2009 at 12:38 am
just got the g1. it sucks.
everyone who think different is just some ignorant fanboy
January 9th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
I never owned a smart phone and I wanted to make my first purchase of one a good choice. Eventually I bought a G1. Some days I like the, but most days I hate the phone. I constantly get dropped calls and the UI reminds me of windows 3.1. The funny thing is my wife has an iphone 3g and I’m always on her phone. I’m addicted to her iphone’s app store and the UI is slick and simple. When I get enough money I’m canceling my t-mobile contract and going for either the iphone or maybe the htc touch hd.
January 9th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Wait, I failed to mention there are 3 good things I also like about the g1.
1) The calculator ( when I get my iphone I’ll just buy a better calculator app)
2) The wordmate app ( I may just keep the deactivated g1 for this dictionary app cuz I really like it. But was it worth a 200 dollar phone?)
3) The app market comments ( I love reading people’s comments who are dissapointed with the g1 games and apps. They are hilarious. I wish there was a g1 app that could gather all the comments left by pissed off g1 users and let you read them one by one.

As a first time buyer and owner of a smart phone, I was ignorant to how one really should work- smoothly. I overlooked all of the glitches and general shittiness of the phone. After reading all of this I seriously regret asking for this phone for christmas. Also, when I began to type up this comment, I noticed my keyboard won’t work anymore. For the most part the bottom row of keys doesn’t work at all and are completely unresponsive. When I press the spacebar all I get is either a b or n. B and n also pop up randomly in between words. This phone is beyond frustrating and so is t-mobile’s customer service, so wish me luck on getting this fixed. =\
Admin Said - We all wish you luck. With patience and persistance you will eventually get it straightened out :\

You have got to be some of the dumbest people alive. This phone is amazing, and it will only get better. They haven’t even completely rolled Out the first major update.
IF YOU F***ING IDIOTS CAN’T HANDLE A NEW PHONE, BUY AN ESTABLISHED ONE (WITH AN ESTABLISHED OS). *Edited for content*
**Admin Said** - So, according to you, it is completely unrealistic to expect a company to actually have a product ready for the market before they ask people to lay out their hard-earned for it? We should be understanding and expect the product to be a piece of crap until the 2nd or 3rd generation release?
I always thought that was what BETA TESTING was for!
Now I understand that we should be proud they have allowed us, the simple masses, to experience the sheer extacy of playing with their new toy even though it isn’t quite ready for prime time yet. Thanks for straightening us all out there, Mr. FANBOY!
BTW - When you say, “esatblished OS” don’t you mean to say, “an OS that works”?

Updateee
So I didn’t need to call customer service after all (thank god). I didn’t feel up to talking to complete idiots anyway. The keyboard started magically working again.
Now I’m just waiting for something else to go wrong.
January 20th, 2009 at 2:38 am
(Update)
I got my iphone! I love this phone. I have my entire phone backed up in itunes unlike the g1. I have tones of utilities and games. The coolest thing of all is now my wife and I can talk mobile to mobile free.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:11 am
jeez doug, i sense a little ignorance in your comment as well as poor spelling.
i don’t see why a brand new 1st generation phone should be expected to be a piece of crap. admin is right, as usual. if people are paying hundreds for this piece of plastic then it should work.
and there’s MY two cents.
January 22nd, 2009 at 5:45 pm
Well, unless you are a girl and need a phone of a particular design to complement your looks, I don’t see the problem with the size. It has to be bigger to accomodate the full keyboard and the removable battery, both of which are very useful features comparing to iPhope and Blackberry. And do I have to mention the rediculous way in which you have to remove the sim card from an iPhone…
The only serious drawbacks are poor campera and very short battery life. But those are rectifiable by getting a stronger battery and using a proper digital camera for seriuos picture.
In short, comments like “g1 sucks… we all know it” without giving any reasons apart from the looks are pathetic on your part. Put some stronger thoughts into this, as long as you took the energy to create this website.
Admin Said - So, only fashion conscious females have any business wanting a something a bit more streamlined than a brick?
Perhaps you shoould take a few minutes and actually read the comments in this post. Then you might have a better understanding of why the G-1 is a piece of crap.
January 25th, 2009 at 4:09 am
G1 maps feature sucks like anything. Its a damn google phone, the my location throws me off two to three blocks. What is this? I’ve had better maps on non google phone. T-Mobile should be ashamed of themselves. I’ve been with T-Mobile for a long time, their customer service on G1 has gone down the drain, time to look for some other carrier, and the sad part is I sell T-Mobile in our store.
The battery is ridiculous. They should have fixed this by now. I don’t want to keep charging with the car charger the entire day.
Very poor performance on this phone, and worst for T-Mobile to carry it..
Will be selling my ASAP.
February 12th, 2009 at 8:34 am
I got my g1 the first week it came out. At first it was nice cuz it had a lot more features than my razr.. but after about 15days it beacme the worst phone for the money, it is like the combination of balckberry and an iphone, but with only the worst features. The baterry life sucks, its not reliable, ringtones to quiet, can’t feel it vibrating when its in your pocket, the graphics suck, no tilt screen, slower than iphone, no video camera (don’t give me the bullshit that it might come, the phone has been out for almost 5 months), no flash, no regular handphoone output, can’t save mms, voice recognition doesn’t work, you need to make at least 7 clicks to call 911, the apps are shitty (there is 6 bubblwrap apps. Wtf)… when you call tmobile they don’t know how to fix half of the problems…. I’m dissapointed, I liked googleand tmobile, but notanymore, google should stick to browwsers cuz that’s the only thing they are good at.
Admin Said - In all fairness, they do a pretty good job with search engines also

G1 is better than most phones its not all that bad
March 6th, 2009 at 2:52 am
The g1 rules, this phone is awsome with so much potential to get even better. Thank god I don’t have to use sh*tty itunes or anything related to apple. Thank god I don’t pay for any of my apps. Thank god I have virtually unlimited memory. Iphone is prettier, and that’s about it.
March 9th, 2009 at 2:08 am
OMG I can’t stress how much that DANG G1 phone stressed me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so excited to get that stupid G1 phone, until after a week of having it, while texting my boyfriend it sent the message to his BEST FRIEND! wTF! and then I was texting my Cousin and it sent to One of MY FRIENDS HOUSE NUmbers! stupid phone! I took that phone back thinking it had a bug, got another g1 !! BIG MISTAKE!! the same thing happened again!! MESSAGES to the WRONG PERSON!
I googled it to see if any other people were having similiar problems! and they were! some smart person, found that when receiving EMAiLS as TEXTS it screws up the whole TEXT messaging thing! so I had to stop MY FREAKING ALERTS from MY BANK! which was a big inconvenience! I called customer SERVICE and these idiots said that no one else has had that problem YEAH FREAKIN RIGHT theres a whole forum of people with that same problem! They couldn’t even tell me what was wrong….. they wanted to troubleshoot the dang phone, FOR WHAT! I Fixed the problem my self/// got rid of one problem another one occured! It kept dropping CALLS LIKE CRAZY! pissing me OFF! I couldn’t receive PICTURE MESSAGING WTF! Some text messages I didn’t receive….not to mention I couldn’t hook my bluetooth up to that g1 and I called customer service they said you can use the blue tooth, but you can’t use it to send pics and messages! what good is the blue tooth feature if you can’t use it for it’s main purpose!?? I enjoyed some features of the phone, such as the Internet and stuff but this phone is a piece of CRAP! and you’ll be wasting money to buy this piece of junk! since I was over my 14 days return, I sold it to someone who wanted to the g1! if the phone wasn’t so bad WHY DO U think so many people are sellin it on EBAY!!!?? go to ebay and look,! because they know alot of something that you don’t know!
ps. the battery life did suck but I always had a charger around so that didn’t too much bother me! but one thing that did bother me was having ALOT of dropped calls MORE than average! and I bought the phone to TALK on it first and PLAy on it last! STUPID G1 go back and fix the flaws ANDROID,HTC, GOOGLE and TMOBILE before you release this crap to loyal customers! you may lose them cause of your thirst for money and lack of customers interesT!!!!
Thank you creator of this site I needed to get that off my mind!
Admin Said - You’re welcome. You should come out of your shell and tell everyone how you really feel

**** I meant to say using bluetooth for pics and ringtones! oops ERROR! oh yeah and the g1 phone would have 4 bars, and it still wouldn’t ring! WTF I wasn’t even receiving my calls! this phone needs to be recalled!
March 9th, 2009 at 2:16 am

March 9th, 2009 at 2:17 am
IN*** a different city
March 9th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
I cannot stand the G1! What a mistake this piece of crap was. It constantly hangs up on me mid-conversation, the battery life sucks a big bag of A$$, and I keep missing calls when I have full bars.. chiks keep thinking I’m ignoring them and getting mad at me. And what’s with the android software encountering ‘errors’ and resetting the phone every few days out of nowhere. I’m not an Apple fan and have no experience with an iPhone, but I can’t imagine it’s as unreliable as this pos. Google is known for it’s high standard of quality, and this phone is extremely disappointing. I’ll continue to make due, but I regret getting rid of my Blackberry Pearl. The features on the G1 are great… when they work.
March 16th, 2009 at 10:18 am
g1 is the coolest phone i have ever seen so shut up man
Admin Said - Sure thing, FanBoy. BTW, you are the one who searched for “G1 Sucks” not me.

Where shall I start with my encounter with T-mobile’s G1? I brought this phone thinking it would do me better justice than MetroPCS Blackberry Curve for work. WRONG! Here’s a list of my issues with the G1:
*Battery Life is very poor. (And I don’t use the internet hardly ever.)
*3G is poor as well.
*camera sucks, unstable to take photos and no flash.
*no bluetooth capabilities.
* no way to look at pdf. Files.
Btw: T-mobile flex plan sucks as well. 100 a month for 300 mins and unlimited internet? Not worth it.
It was a poor investment on my part, since I use it for work. I plan on next month to re-instate my account with MetroPCS and re-purchase the curve.
March 20th, 2009 at 5:40 am
the g1 f**cking sucks man.At first when i saw that the g1 was coming out i thought it was one of the coolest thing because it was on google’s OS,when i bought it it was fine for a few days, then when my memory card start to fill up the god dammed phone started to give me problems like application crashing and unreadable memory, i mean,WTF IS TIS PEICE OF JUNK? IT DESIGN SUCKS,BATTERY LIFE IS SO LOW THAT I HAD TO CHARGE IT FOR ALMOST 2 TIMES A DAY, I HAVE A IPHONE 2G AND 3G AND I WAS SO GLAD I DIDN’T SELL THE IPHONE 3G FOR THIS PEICE OF JUNK! AND WHATS WITH THE KEYBOARD? DON’T THEY THINK THEY SHOULD MAKE THE KEYBOARD LIKE THE HTC TOUCH PRO? I MEAN, LIKE WHAT THE F*CK? THE KEYBOARD IS SO HARD TO TYPE WITH THAT OBJECT CONTAINING THE TRACKBALL BESIDE IT, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, IT CONSTANTLY MAKE ME TYPE WRONGLY, EVEN THE IPHONE’S VIRTUAL KEYBOARD IS 1000X BETTER THEN THIS PEICE OF SHIT. GOOGLE SHOULD JUST STICK TO THEIR F**CKING SEACH ENGINE INSTEAD OF ENTERING THE PHONE MARKET ASSHOLE GOOGLE. IT WASTED MY GOD DAMMED MONEY. I’D RATHER CHANGE THIS PHONE FOR A OMNIA INSTEAD OF THIS SCREWED UP PHONE MAN!! AND G1 IS NOT THE COOLEST PHONE. IN FACT ITS THE LOUSIEST PHONE IN THE SMARTPHONE LISTING. DANIEL MAYER SCREW YOU USELESS PEICE OF JUNK. YOU ARE PROBABLY SOME GODDAMMED USELESS GOOGLE MANUFACTURER HERE TO SAY THAT THE G1 IS GOOD TO MAKE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE GOOD IMPRESSION ABOUT IT BUT UR FRIGGIN WRONG A$$HOLE.I HEARD THAT EVEN MOST OF THE GOOGLE WORKERS LOVE THEIR IPHONE BETTER THAN THIS PEICE OF JUNK.ONLY LOSERS WOULD LIKE THE USELESS PEICE OF JUNK A.K.A G1.
thanks to the creator of tis website that i can vent my anger about this stupid peice of junk!
Admin Said - Glad we could help. We just wish you would stop holding back and let us know what you really think of the phone
March 21st, 2009 at 2:23 am
First off, kudos to the creator of this site. Secondly, anyone who boast on how wonderful the g1 is without mentioning a flaw or two, must of gotten for free or was paid by google themselves to attempt salvage any good repuation this phone has left.
This phone is not recession chic! So, I expect a quality smartphone if I am going spenda few hundred dollars. Google could teach this phone to wipe my ass and I still would not purchase it.
Pros:
– I like reading comments on applications.
– aim is pretty cool.
– youtube app. Is cool as well.(but it does allow HD vids to play.)
Cons:
– trackball has a freaking mind of its own.
– applications start and end by themselves.
–keyboard light hardly stays on and is weak as hell.
– camera is super weak, it shakes when taking a photo and no flash.
– NO standard headphone jack. (Where do these idiots suppose I buy new ones at?)
– 3G dead zones! Ugh!
– my phone makes random calls from my contacts.
– for such a bulky ass phone, you expect a decent battery life, ( I am charging 2 or more a day!)
– I can’t download acrobat reader or review my comp files.
– my email is all messed up! I would delete mail and the next day they are back in my inbox!
– GPS is crap!
– wtf? No video camera application.
– NO bluetooth syncing.
And the list goes on! This phone is not worth the stool that exits my body!
March 21st, 2009 at 5:07 am
i really think that this phone is a peice of junk and is not worth of people’s hard earned money, this peice of junk is so huge. the iphone is 10x better then this.nobody even wants this phone. i dont know what the F**K should i use it for since i have the iphone already.its has way low battery life and i have gto charge it 2 times a day to keep it running man..
March 21st, 2009 at 10:50 pm
G1 fing sucks!–Sell it to a stupid fanboy! And make it their problem! Lol!
March 21st, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Hm Yep I think this phone sucks a** too. I signed up as a dev to write apps for it. From a marketplace standpoint this phone simply sucks. For example, we can’t upload screenshots for our programs to the market. And our own descriptions are limited to 350 characters. THAT SUCKS. The Iphone app store allow almost unlimited comments.
Another thing, they have this 24 hour return policy , someone can buy an app and then refund it within 24 hours. Well I say you dont need that policy if they would allow screenshots and a proper amount of text to have a full description of the program, so people could actually make an intelligent decision BEFORE they buy the app.
Another stupid thing is the size of the internal memory - too small, how is anyone going to make money selling apps if nobody has room on their phones anymore?
Also, the SDK has no support for game type audio at all. It’s not even ready for real mobile gaming. This SUCKS.
I’m wishing maybe to get my 25 bucks back as signing up as a developer.
March 22nd, 2009 at 6:26 pm
hmm well as a matter in fact this phones not bad at all.i mean no phone has perfection…but this phone basically has everything except the video recorder…i mea shit you can download free aps, cameras not bad,gps is better than most, has a slide key board..oh an by the way i HATE the touch screen ones eww!and the best thing is that that phone has updates like every frikin day i mean fuck ive download soo many things on my G1 and its amazing! and all this iphone tlk i mean damn that phones old as hell..you might as well b walking around with a house phone in your pocket lmao, plus i know soo many people whos iphone have messed up and damn yea its thin but thats why that crap is so sensative…and its got a wimpy 2MP camera pshh lmao,no stereo blue tooth uugh!!Still can’t send pictures in MMS messages, still no native voice dialing, no mobile TV, no replaceable battery, no flash memory card, and on and on!!! d G1 is way better in my opinion and for you people sayin the g1 is way 2 big then man up kuz bigger is better lol
March 23rd, 2009 at 4:21 am
Rachel,
Did mommy and daddy buy the phone for you?
March 23rd, 2009 at 9:57 am
Ya you can download free apps all day, and all g1 users think that everything should be free. Why should I develop for this phone is everyone expects my apps to be free? Shove it!
March 28th, 2009 at 3:02 am
OH yeah and another thing…When I would be on the phone, the screen would go black, so if I needed to press 1 or 2 when the operator says press 1 to pay my bills or listen to messages I had to find a button to wake up the damn screen! and Sometimes that didn’t work…. A NOTE to the idiots who say they loveeeeeeeee the g1 phone it has potential waiting for their CUPCAKE UPDATE~ you are dumb, that’s just like buying a car, and waiting for the dealer to fix the engine…. you paid your money for it so you want everything to work properly while you have it, not patiently wait for updates that’s probably not going to come until 2yrs later….I got a better phone n I am so glad the G1 is out of my life! I have never felt like that about a phone…it must really suck!
April 3rd, 2009 at 10:53 pm
Like many others I was o excited that T-mobile was coming out with something to answer to the Iphone. Well all Tmobile did was say yes we can;t keep up. The G1 is a piece of shit hard ware. I don’t know why Tmobile / google settled for this piece of shit phone. The sad part is people spent so much money on the stupid thing they don’t want to admit it’s crap. My boyfirend finaly went to the dark side and got the Iphone, Shit Tmoible is making me do the same!!!
April 5th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
I am currently writing this on my G1. I got the G1 for it’s highly promising Android software because it allows for a free market for developers so that I wasn’t limited to the limited supply of incompadable crap apple apps. The size of the G1 doesn’t bother me at all and the flipout keyboard and trackball are awesome. With all that said I am disapointed, despite the fact there are some great apps they are so few. I have a million great ideas for apps and games, but I haven’t a clue how to nor the freetime to write apps. The camera is also a huge disapointment. Don’t get me wrong 3.2 mp is great but no flash? No light? And why so much motion blur? I’m also disapointed that there’s no flash player, if I had one of those I wouldn’t need to download games. The battery could be better too; it would be nice to youtube for hours and still have a full days charge left to burn. There’s no headphone jack, but that’s not a big woop I jus ordered an adapter from china for a dollar. There should be a button to turn the keyboard backlight off on the day I can’t see the keys.
April 7th, 2009 at 1:21 am
Had the G1 for about 4 months now, though its not the best phone in the world, it was a sure upgrade from my Curve 8320. The GPS can be slow to pick up a satellite signal and sometimes the phone can lock up temporarily but I have never had to pull the battery. The hardware has no issues and I believe most of the problems people have are either software issues or user related some of which have gotten fixed in updates. The iPhone is nice yes, but I wouldn’t like using a touchscreen keyboard. TMO’s data sucks especially 2G as the latency is horrible. Growing pains are expected on new products and initial releases should always be treated as massively public beta tests. I understand that these tests should be done beforehand but no company can possibly replicate every type of usability scenario. If that was the case, Microsoft wouldn’t release service packs, Apple wouldn’t release updates to the iPhone, so on and so fourth.
BTW, i found this site using: “g1 gps sucks” because I wanted to see how many other people were having problems with their GPS signal.
April 9th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
The comments on this website are absolutely hysterical!!! I especially love how the Admin responds to some of the people’s rants… Nice!!!
I had a feeling this G1 Phone wasn’t all it was cracked up to be because the hype died down on it so quickly after it came out, you would have swore Superman blew his super breath on the G1 Fire and it was doused immediately!
I’m not an Apple fanboy but as a tester of the 3.0 beta that will be released this summer, the iPhone 3G JUST WORKS!!! This phone rocks!!! You guys will LOVE the new functionality, trust me! And those who’ve been waiting to get an iPhone, wait no more after July!!! The new iPhone will be out with a better camera, video conferencing capabilities and more processing power!!

apple is so gay i cant believe you apple people actually put the apple sticker on your cars…so gay
and none of you said why the g1 actually sucks
Admin Said - You’re joking, right? If you can’t understand why the G1 sucks from reading the comments here then take a look at the comments at G1 Problems. Perhaps then you will have a better understanding of what people are talking about.
Just so we understand, you don’t like Apple products because you think their logo sticker looks gay, correct? It sounds like you may have some issues that go much deeper than electronic preferences.
April 16th, 2009 at 12:48 am
Ok I got the g1, terrible, the phone kept shutting off on me, then it eould freeze every half hour so I you have to take the battary just to have it working again, haven’t dropped or damaged the phone but I did give up on it as the phone continues to freeze shut off or not have service in a 3g area, currently using the samsung behold and it great, 5 megapix camra with video but only lacks louder speaker and better youtube quality
April 26th, 2009 at 10:17 am
(update)
Well I’ve had my iPhone for almost 4 months and I have no regrets. Every day I’m still exicited to use my phone. And I’ll be even more exited when the iPhone 3.0 update rolls out.
Does google still support the G1? it’s like the phone fell off the face of the earth. At this point I’m wondering when the media will the declare the “google phone” a technological flop. Too bad the company decided to make people spend their hard earned cash on a phone that wasn’t ready for the consumer market. Perhaps android will be a commercial sucess in a year or two, but not on this G1 crap.
April 27th, 2009 at 11:58 pm
My only complaint is the battery life! And the stupid keyboard! & the 3G network & The Stupid ass apps! & The stupid ass GPS! & there’s no Bluetooth file transfer! & Its Ugly& There’s no Video camera! & the Camere takes HORRIBLE pix! & there’s no camera flash! & The phone freezes! & the phone cuts off for NO REASON @ ALL! & I’m an asshole for paying the full price! 400 freaking dollars! & I think I’m done! Tmobile.Google.HTC do us a favor and jump off a roof!
BTW I feel a lot better after this post!

Seeing my parents use T-Mobile, and I moving out from Texas to California, I decided to make it easier for my Parents and I to talk for free using free Mobile to Mobile minutes. I walked into a T-Mobile store in the month of November, year 2008, and purchased the G1 with an impression that it truly was an iPhone competitor. I, for one, and a HUGE Apple fan and have purchased several Apple products and NEVER have been unsatisfied with any of them. Unfortunately, I made a huge mistake by not buying an iPhone. After a month, I realized how stupid this phone was and how incompetent it is compared to an iPhone. I won an iPod touch, and that is 20 billion times better than the G1. About the only thing that the G1 has over the iTouch is that it can make calls. This are just a few of the reasons why the G1 has sucks so much penis:
-Constantly has forced closed apps.
-The Market is DISGUSTING. Look at the iTunes and iPhone’s market, magnificently organized, legitimate apps are the only ones displayed, the cost is in ONE currency (U.S. Dollars), and it has so many more great apps period.. The G1’s market? Has some of the stupidest apps, the design of the market looks horrible, it is difficult to find an app “Chomp SMS” won’t get you “CHOMPSMS”, it states prices for apps in Dollars and other in Pounds, and most of the apps are just flat out homo.
-Apps aren’t saved to the always expandable SD cards, but better yet, into the phone themselves. After a few apps and pictures, it constantly states it is low on virtual memory. WTF?
-NO ON SCREEN KEYBOARD.
-NO FLASH
-NO VIDEO RECORDING
-BATTERY LIFE IS CRAPPY
-Youtube looks like a** hole
-LOW 3G coverage
-I loose signal, and it doesn’t pick it up.. AT ALL. I have to go into the network settings and reconnect to T-Mobile
-Compared to the MARVELOUS iPhone, the apps are complete BS. I constantly get so many great apps on my ipod touch, while my G1’s apps do NOTHING for me. About the only good app on the Android market is Chomp SMS, seeing that it’s an SMS app that resembles the iPhone, which includes an on screen keyboard.
-Dissing this phone only makes me regret having it more and MORE….
I rather have the old school Nokia brick that this piece of shit. As soon as a new iPhone is released, I’m switching to ATT&T and canceling with T-Mobile. As of right, I’m trying to sell my G1 and going to purchase and Jailbreak an iPhone.. Hopefully I find a good one, and I already have people lined up to buy this phone.
HTC G1 OFFICIALLY CAN LICK MY A** H**E… Apple products all the way.

Bought a G1 a couple months ago and have had nothing but problems:
- vibrates on and off whenever it feels like it
- sometimes vibrates and won’t stop
- constantly having to “soft-reboot” it by taking battery out - a blue LED light comes on and screen goes blank. Won’t turn on.
- All the other problems everyone has already mentioned…
Because the phone won’t even turn on now, TMo is replacing the handset but from what I have read here and on other sites, I have a feeling this was a BIG MISTAKE and I should have gone for the iPhone or other…

wifi stopped working
Rooting wont help, believe me ive tried everything. I was hoping cupcake will fix the problem, so i install the UK version last night, still nothing. ive had this problem since February and wifi has worked like 3 times , what really sucks is that i live out of the country and i dont have 3g to download APPs or anything else that requires internet access.
When the problem first started for me, i search everywhere for a solution, but it seemed like i was the only one with WIFI issues, now the numbers keep on increasing and the lucky ones are the ones that have Tmobile with warranty and just get a new phone. G1 with out internet access, petty much sucks.
for the Price of the G1 it should have been a better Quality wifi hardware, not to mention heating issues with the battery aswell.
I love the OS but i dont think HTC did there part in providing a higher quality hardware. Ima wait and see which one of these upcoming Company with ANDROID i switch to.

Okay, so I read through about half of these posts, and the whole time I was agreeing with everyone’s reason why the thing blows. Personally, I think the phone is not only not all its cracked up to be, but its also likely to get worse over time with more use.
I chose the G1 because I have been a loyal Tmobile customer for 4 years. In that time, I’ve had two sidekicks (2 and 3 - but I gave that line up after the flimsy SK3 which always fell apart within a couple of months of use), 2 CrackBerries, and a Wing. Let me just say, I love Tmobile’s prices, and their customer service has always been great for me. Now back to the real problems I have with them. I first became annoyed when I bought the Wing. Anyone who’s had it can tell you it also sucks, but I’m sure that’s a totally different website. I stupidly blamed the sucking on Windows Mobile and not HTC. That was my first mistake.
After owning the Wing for a mere 3 months, I gave in and paid nearly full price for a Curve, which I loved. Then peer pressure hit (touch screens are so “in” right now) and I got lured in by the G1’s wannabe iPhone-ness. Side-note: If it weren’t for the fact that I am a frequent texter and email user, I would have caved in to the iPhone during the first wave (I am a girl who likes having pretty manicured nails and touchscreen keyboards + long nails are way too annoying for me). Anyway, I got the G1 and was in love at first. That was about 6 months ago. Now every time I get a text, it takes me 10 minutes to be able to send a response. Isn’t the entire purpose of a phone to COMMUNICATE? I’m sorry, but I can’t be bothered with sitting around waiting two minutes for my phone to respond to each touch. Its absurd. And please don’t tell me to delete my long text threads - the phone can’t even handle that. Sometimes I try to delete a thread before I go to sleep so I won’t be tempted to force close the texting app when it freezes for 30 minutes. Even so when I wake up 8 hours later, ITS STILL FROZEN. Seriously?
Other issues: the phone freezes up when someone calls and I can’t answer till the call is OVER, the “my location” feature in maps never seems to figure out where I actually am, the camera sucks more than my first digital camera in 1995 did, the ugly chin at the bottom of the phone is ridiculous, you can’t copy and paste unless you’re in a text field, and the battery life is awful (but that’s really just the 3G). I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting right now.
Listen, I don’t mind shelling out 350 bucks to get a phone (I upgrade so often that I never get the lowest price) if I think the thing is gonna be awesome. I just want to be happy with what I get. At this point, I’m creating an eBay listing tonight and hoping some poor sucker will buy it for at least half of what I paid. I’ll be going back to my Curve, which I still rely on for email because the G1 can’t handle the simple task of retrieving my Mac email. I just prefer to forgo the touchscreen in favor of a physical keyboard and reliable software that can handle heavy use. I’ll be sticking with BlackBerry for a loooong time and will be patiently waiting for Tmobile to carry a BB with 3G (which should be by the end of this year).
In conclusion, if you don’t think this thing sucks, you either got the only one that works properly, or you’re in denial cause you’re pissed you bought in to the hype and paid for this useless brick of a phone.

Oooo… I still so undecided. Everyone has their I hate [FILL IN THE BLANK NAME OF THE PHONE] website… All of this feedback is very helpful. Thanks admin for creating this venue to vent frustrations. I seriously cannot decide. Maybe I should wait some more.. Besides, my contract is expired.. I’m pretty much paying as I go…I would hate to get stuck for another 2 years with a piece. I need first hand experience with all possible alternatives.

Uh, not sure what problems you guys are having but I love my G1. Yeah some things suck (BT File transfer) but give it time. That’s the appeal of this phone. It’s ever growing. If you don’t like something wait for an app or write it yourself. Let me just add that rooting your phone helps severely. Seriously great phone and yall’s just HATIN.

The G1 is a joke. Hardware wise, everyone here know why it sucks. It lacks. It’s ugly, it seems that college students (the average kind) drew the project and made it in the backyard.
But my complain is really about the software. It’s unpolished, cluttered and doesn’t have consistency. Why the H€LL do I need a digital clock and an analog clock together? Why some icons have a perspective and others are slightly different? Why the same menu appears somewhere else depending on the app you are using?
It’s confusing. They really rushed. It sucks. And badly. Get a good Nokia, or an IPhone if you like the kind. Really. I’m selling mine for a Nokia.

>Looks like the G1 doesn’t suck as much as you think it does. Your just jealous that you wasted all of your money on your iPhone<
I paid $150 for my refurbished 16GB iPhone and it was worth every damned penny. I love it. People complain that Apple products cost more than their competitors, yet no one complains that BMWs cost more than Hyundais. These days, you do really get what you pay for.

My friend just got a G1 and I have had my iPhone for almost a year now. iPhone is polished, intuitive, all one touch screen. I just gave it a test drive and I am thoroughly under-whelmed. I expected some type of fight, but the iPhone is by far and away the clear cut winner in the smart phone world.
THE ONE THING that his G1 has that the iPhone doesn’t is a f***ing metal detector. I was like, bro, seriously…I AM A METAL DETECTOR. I can look at something and tell if its metal or not! That’s metal. That’s not metal. Like how ridiculous is it that your “smart phone” has the dumb ass, UNNECESSARY functionality to detect metal. LAME.

I DID like the G1 since December, but now, in July, I’m thinking back to then and saying to myself “was I blind to ever like that boat anchor??” good job making this site…cant wait to see the new G2 sucks.. :)) ADMIN ALL THE WAY!!!
Ha ha! Flattery will get you everywhere. It might even get you a free link

Ok so I got a g1 in feb. And I was so excited. 1st off it took 2 hours to get the phone going with t mobile on my husbands phone coaching me through lol. Then another 45 min before I could make a call.somehow no one at t mobile knew what was wrong.
Then the real stuff started going wrong. Constant force closes. Could not make calls. My actual home screen force closes and then its just black haha… text pics I send are always blank when received. It goes off and on 2 to 4 times a day.
I realllllly wanted an iphone but att wanted a 750$ deposit from me….I don’t know why I do not have bad credit. So my hubby surprised me with this crap.
I had also a HTC shadow which was a nightmare. T mobile charged us 2 times for it and shut down our account when we refused to pay 2 times.
I got the stupid update for the phone last month and its not great. The on screen keyboard is so slow and inaccurate. The other updates are so pointless. It did get a VIDEO cam. Lol which is useless because it needs to be blindingly bright to see anything and its so blurry like every HTC camera with no flash.
The keyboard is so hard to type on all the buttons are flat and my thumb hurts from having to reach over the end piece!
So many more prob. To list! Ahhh!
I call t mobile all the time and they seem so shocked to hear I hate the phone. They tell me everytime that I am the 1st complaint they ever heard about the phone and they have att people selling iphones for it! Wtf!
Seems like I’m just stuck with t mobile which I used to love…now I hate even though they have unlimited plans for so cheap 50 bucks a month….id rather pay more and have internet that works haha…oh they told me I was lying that my internet didn’t work. The girl told me she seen usage so I need to stop lying haha. They also billed me double last month and say if I don’t pay in full I’m cut off…is that legal omg….hate this phone…..ahhhh….
Anyone wanna buy a slightly used g1 lol
July 10th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Oh yeah the market is a JOKE. . Horrible apps look like they were all made by children. .Do not work and are useless! I’m too mad to write more ugh.
July 31st, 2009 at 4:31 pm
The camera on the g1 really sucks. I had the krzr before this and the camera on that blows the g1 out of the water. You can’t zoom or change any of the cam effects. You figure that they would have made an attempt to make it better considering this is a $400 phone.

What bugs me about the G1. Is that the device cannot get root-like access to store as many apps as you want as long as you have a 2 GB or better. No
the darn thing only has a measly 76 Megabytes of memory. Eww! That is so Old School! It’s like owning another everyday crappy Motorola W490 with just a bigger screen. Another thing, T Mobile is bad, they don’t want no
one tethering with their G1’s, which means you CANNOT use their network
to access the web with your Netbook. Its probably the FCC’s fault for this
cause of everybody clogging the 3G networks. This phone is like owning a sidekick with a Motorola W490 infrastructure.

I just finally sold my g1 after months and made the switch to iPhone. Could not be happier. It’s like day and night seriously!

The applications on this g1 are a complete FAIL. I’m on my third G1 now due to hardware malfunction. Wifi works for about 2 weeks then all of a sudden stop working say when u need to reset ur wireless router due to ur isp being s**t on top of that. Over 300 dollers a month for nothing but s***ty ass service from t mobile there g3 towers are in the worst areas of the state. Usually near the major highways entering in certain states. Is this tmobile trying to show there network covers …bjdjfjrughjiiejjdvmenc you know what f**k u tmobile and f**k u htc .

I will say as many problems this phone has. I am in love with the keyboard. And the screen is decent as well. But that is really the only good thing. I will complain about more about the s**tty usb insert placement. I just realzied why trying to charge and type this.
October 6th, 2009 at 12:41 am
Well wow, that killed an hour… lol
Now I still have my G1, and here’s a few tips for people having GPS issues, um, turn it on. Stock it uses the location of the nearest cell tower. As for battery life, brand new 3Gs actual usage time is around 4 hours as well, but I do agree it could be a lot better, (not that I would ever) I can’t text and drive (not that I could with an iphone either really). People having not enough space, root your damn phone, it’s easy enough for a novice to do now, and a 32gb G1 can be yours once they have the micro SD card. Not to mention it’ll run faster (like your precious iphone’s do when they’re jailbroken) and not to mention, ever think of linking your phone up to a keyboard? Can actually be done once rooted.
I agree I was completely dissapointed when I got this phone, but making it a mobile wifi hotspot for access at work has made me a lot more popular, and didn’t cost me another data plan. When I was running out of storage space I googled it from my phone using it’s voice search (you remember who had it first and is still the best at it?) And found how a lot of my problems can be fixed completely? Oh I love the iphone sucks forum as well. Size ok, “multitouch” you have to have the apps that can use it (psst can be done with a rooted phone) want to load your contacts from outlook? There’s a free app for that! Only problem is your calendar is still f-ed.
This is all a mixed bag of good with the bad, and hopefully you all can see that it’s a “good” phone, I agree with a lot of the comments, but some of them are as simple as the dreaded call to tmobile saying look it’s been an issue, send me a new one(they have been nice enough to send me 1 replacement phone no cost whatsoever 3 months after getting my phone). You just have to at least act like you know what you’re talking about. Gps problem? I mean come on, it recieves signals from outer f-ing space and is working in millions of cars/boats/phones, (and I know it’s a small sample) but also in both of my G1’s as well!
Ok well I gotta go now because my battery is about to…..
October 13th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
G1 is not bad. The battery life sucks, the apps sucks, the fact that 3g is seldom available, wow I love the memory capacity and the fact that the camera has no flash. No headphone jacks, fantastic!!! This phone is worth every single penny!!

Thank you! I now know I’m not crazy. Evidently, this piece of shit frustrates a lot of people. This piece of shit! I don’t even want to have a f**king cell phone anymore. I don’t want to spend another moment of what precious time I have left on this fucking planet full of rip-off assholes to ask my wife: ” Did it ring? NO? F**k! F**k T-Mobile! F**k G1! …and F**k Google!” I fucking hate all of these cell phone providing assholes. You better off getting a walkie talkie. Why pay for this piece of shit to get bothered by telemarketers and charities when no one you care about can get through to you.
——–Oh, yes… almost forgot… If you charge back on a purchase of this piece of shit, they will not even dispute your charge-back. You get your money back and you get to stamp on it. Don’t forget to charge-back for the service fee as well.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The G1 is the beest phone! And all I have to say is that Admin is a f***ing Apple lover. So shut the hell up and get a life, instead of making a website about how much you hate a f***ing phone!
Admin Said - Gosh yes, I could do something more productive like seek out blogs that talk bad about something I’m a fanboy of and leave stupid comments on them.
Right?

I have been using the G1 for a little under a year, I was stoked for it when it came out. I regret my ignorance, the G1 never sends texts properly, and has an even harder time deleting them. It is not nearly loud enough, the vibration is weak, and pretty much pointless to even turn on. I rarely can hear it ring, or sending texts, especially if I am driving. The phone it self feels laggy, choppy, half assed, GPS is slow, because google maps suck, I am lead in directions that take longer than certain routes, so the phone costs me extra gas money too. Aggrivating. Honestly from someone who wanted this phone to work out well, it didn’t it is just another scheme for quick money, smart phone in general, are not smart, anything HTC creates seems to have problems really, my friend has already gone through 2 HTC phones, one had a problem with devouring batteries, literally sucking a full powered battery dry in a day, and within a month he had to spend like 20 or 30 bucks for a new battery. The other one had similar problems to mine, unresponsiveness. Luckily I did not pay for this phone, and I don’t have to keep it. It is a waste of money however, I would suggest purchasing a simple phone that just does the job, it isn’t like most people need internet, IM, google updates ect. Computers still do the job jut fine, better in fact. Right now the stupid piece of crap says it has service, and doesn’t… I can’t call anyone, I can’t text anyone, I can’t do what my phone is made to do…because it doesn’t feel like doing it. That is exactly what I want..a phone with freewill.
Admin Said - Lol!! “a phone with free will”. That’s funny!

I love the phone , but there are a few tweaks.
But as of today. I HATE IT.
Locked me out and wouldnt let me get back in , now i have to pay a $70 fee.
February 6th, 2010 at 2:43 pm
I purchased the g1 for business, boy was that a mistake. My issues:
The battery life is atrocious, I had to buy a bigger battery and now the thing is a tank.
No flash, you can only watch certain videos from youtube. lame.
The storage space for apps is tiny,
no option to save them to the sd card,
no file browsing,
email program for my business email in the worst program I’ve ever used,
The phone stops and freezes multiple times a day,
Text messages are often “undelivered” even when I have full bars,
Call reception is terrible, even when it says I have full bars, which may be Tmobile’s fault
I’ve had to factory reset the phone twice in the seven months I’ve owned it,
Tmobile advised me that I should regularly delete my call logs, email and sms’s, to avoid going below 25megs, that’s a stupidly small amount of space for a supposed internet and media savvy phone.
Better call reception
More Space
Better Apps
Better Battery Life
would make for a better phone
Thanks.
